Domtar’s Nekoosa Mill recently partnered with local scouts to combat food insecurity, collecting donations for students and families in need during the annual Scouting for Food drive.

The March event marked the third consecutive year the mill has teamed up with Nekoosa Troop and Pack 174. Roger Wilcox, the troop’s leader and a mill employee, spearheaded the collaboration in support of the community-wide effort.

All donations from the drive were delivered to the Nekoosa School District’s Backpacks for Kids program. The initiative provides qualifying students with backpacks filled with food each Friday to ensure they have nutritious meals over the weekend. Students return the empty backpacks on Monday to be refilled for the following week.

Mill management noted the generous support from employees, which helped ensure the success of the partnership.

In addition to Wilcox, participants in the food drive included Missy Wagner, production planner; Scott Linzmeier, production planning/shipping superintendent; Ginny Johnson, business relations coordinator; and Shane Adam, pulp and power manager.
