Employees at the Domtar Nekoosa Mill — together with retirees, vendors and local volunteers — are making a significant impact on their community this fall by channeling their enthusiasm into a series of successful charity events and local competitions that support area organizations and the local athletic association.
Raising Funds for the United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties

The philanthropic efforts were highlighted by two major fundraisers for the United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties, both of which achieved record-breaking success.
In August, more than 140 participants gathered for the annual United Way golf scramble. Ten dedicated volunteers worked behind the scenes to ensure a smooth operation, resulting in an impressive $25,401 raised for the local cause — a new record for the event.
Following the scramble, the community spirit continued into September during the mill’s annual maintenance outage. Domtar hosted a Brat Fry which, thanks to generous vendor sponsorships, tireless volunteers and hungry workers, also set a record by raising $7,451. All proceeds from both events will directly benefit area organizations that serve people in need.
Supporting the Nekoosa Athletic Association

Beyond fundraising, Domtar Nekoosa employees showcased their culinary skills during Homecoming Week by participating in the Nekoosa Athletic Association’s annual Roast Grill-Off. The long-standing tradition invites local businesses to prepare a roast for judging, with the resulting sandwiches sold to benefit the athletic association.
The “Team Domtar” entry was a collaborative effort, with Scott Noble handling the cooking and Amanda Bowman managing the presentation. Noble and Bowman, both members of the mill’s quality department, earned a commendable third-place finish in the “taste” category. The competition was judged by the Nekoosa Lions Club.
A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers and participants whose efforts and enthusiasm have been instrumental in the success of these community events.
